HONORING OUR VETERANS

VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK VETERANS COMMISSION’S 2019 VETERANS GOLF CLASSIC

Over 130 golfers took to the course at Silver Lake Country Club on Tuesday, September 10 for this year’s Veterans Golf Classic. The Guest of Honor for this year’s outing was Medal of Honor recipient and author of “Zero to Hero,” Allen Lynch. The memoir tells the inspiring story that takes him from bullies on the playground in 1950s Illinois, to the enemy on the battlefield in Vietnam, to the demons of PTSD he’s battled ever since. Lynch autographed copies of his book at the event. The event included 18 holes of golf along with breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner. Proceeds from this year’s outing benefit the Orland Park Veterans Commission, the American Legion Orland Memorial Post 111, the Orland-Palos VFW Post 2604, PAWWS, Veterans Garage and Veterans Voices. Thank you to those who joined us on the course, the generous sponsors and the community for continuing to support area veterans.
