SUSTAINED CITIZEN COMPLAINTS
In 2020, the sustained Citizen Complaint rate was 17.8% which is lower than it was in 2019 and which falls within the national standards for sustained complaints against law enforcement. The sustained complaints were a result of either a policy violation or based on the officer’s attitude or demeanor.

As evidenced below in the Citizen Complaints Dispositions, 18% of all complaints against members of the Orland Park Police Department were sustained over the last five years none of which were allegations of racial profiling, criminal misconduct or excessive use of force. The Orland Park Police Department responded to 276,867 calls for service in 2020 and sustained five (5) citizen complaints. This computes to one sustained complaint for every 55,373 citizen contacts.
