ANNUAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING HOURS

FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM

The Orland Park Police Department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program is the continued selection process that combines field training with objective evaluations to ensure the probationary patrol officer meet the standards of a solo police officer. The information and instruction provided throughout the program is intended to supplement the knowledge the probationary patrol officer obtained during academy training and prepare him or her for the in-field application of that knowledge. The Orland Park Police Department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program consist of one (1) program coordinator, three (3) supervisors and eight (8) field training officers. In 2021, fourteen (14) probationary officers were enrolled in the sixteen (16) week program.

The Orland Park Police Department is committed to having a professional and highly trained work force that serves the community effectively and efficiently. Despite a continued international pandemic, the Orland Park Police Department still was able to provide a total of 17,223 hours of training to its employees during 2021.
