ARREST MADE IN DUNKIN DONUTS ARMED ROBBERY On 10/22/21 at 5:15pm, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a call of an Armed Robbery taking place at the Dunkin Donuts located at 15615 Harlem Ave. Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned that the suspects had left the area. After issuing an area-wide alert, it was discovered that Oak Forest and South Holland also had Armed Robberies committed by the same two suspects. The subsequent investigation revealed that two suspects entered the Dunkin Donuts and one suspect made a cash purchase. When the cashier was distracted by the next customer in line, one suspect walked back to the register and displayed a handgun to the cashier. The second suspect, now also displaying a handgun, approached the drive thru in an attempt to pick up the drive thru register while wielding the firearm. While doing so, the second suspect discharged a round into the wall of the drive thru, startling both suspects who ran out of the business without any proceeds. The suspects entered a grey SUV, which was reported stolen two days prior, and fled the area. On 10/25/21, Orland Park Police Detectives located the stolen SUV in Chicago. Through numerous investigative efforts, detectives were able to identify the second suspect as Jareed Johnson. On 12/15/21, with the assistance of Chicago Police Department, Johnson was taken into custody with a loaded firearm in his possession. Johnson was subsequently charged with Attempted Armed Robbery (Class 1 Felony) and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony).
