ANNUAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING HOURS

FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM

The Orland Park Police Department Field Training and Evaluation Program is the continued selection process that combines field training with objective evaluations to ensure the probationary patrol officer meets the standards of a solo police officer. The information and instruction provided throughout the program is intended to supplement the knowledge the probationary patrol officer obtained during academy training and prepare him or her for the in-field application of that knowledge.

The Orland Park Police Department is committed to having a professional and highly trained work force that serves the community effectively and efficiently. Despite a continued international pandemic, the Orland Park Police Department still was able to increase to a total of 19,142 hours of training to its employees during 2023.

The Orland Park Police Department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program consists of one program coordinator, three supervisors and eight field training officers. In 2023, nine probationary officers were enrolled in the 16 week program.
