A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR PEKAU
The Village of Orland Park is pleased to present the Winter/ Spring Program Guide. Within the guide, you will find recreational, cultural and educational opportunities that are sure to appeal to all ages, skill levels and interests. I hope everyone will join us November 27 as Orland Park kicks off the holiday season with the annual Holiday Festival, Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade. This festive event has quickly become a community favorite. On December 31, families are invited to ring in the New Year at the Children's New Year's Eve Celebration held at the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink. The start of the new year is a great time to kick-off a new commitment to fitness and wellness. The Village’s Sportsplex and the Orland Park Health and Fitness Center are fully equipped with cardio and strength equipment, indoor tracks and a large variety of group exercise and specialty classes. Check out the great variety of camps offered over spring break and into the summer months. The Village’s preschool programs provide children with a head start in learning, socialization and independence in a fun, supportive environment. Details for 2023/2024 are included in the guide. Don’t let the winter weather keep you from being active. The Winter Wonderland Ice Rink at Centennial Park is scheduled to open November 26. Sledding fun can be found at Centennial Park, Marley Creek Park and Schussler Park. Don’t forget man’s best friend loves the cold weather. The DogOut Dog Park continues to be open to members year-round. The Village promotes assistance to Orland Park seniors and individuals with disabilities through its Snow Angels program. Individuals are encouraged to sign-up to be a Snow Angel to assist their neighbors in need. I look forward to seeing everyone out and about enjoying all of the wonderful opportunities for recreation and leisure in Orland Park.

In this program, students will travel back in time to explore an Earth filled with dinosaurs. Students will also learn about animal habitats and why an animal’s home is important for survival. Along the way we will reinforce primary and secondary colors, shapes, and how to count the things we are playing with. Through stories, games, and building with LEGO DUPLO blocks, your little learner will be exploring the history of biomes on Earth while gaining critical social, emotional and developmental skills without even realizing it!
Create an amazing Star Wars inspired movie using stop motion animation, LEGO bricks, and Star Wars characters! Students will work with a partner to create a story in a galaxy far, far away, complete with a unique set, characters, and plot line. They will learn how to produce all aspects of their own movie, including dialogue, sound effects, and special effects.
