-08&3&% 1301&35: 5"9&4 The property tax levy continues the Village's goal of minimizing the impact from property tax and in fact IBT CFFO MPXFSFE . This year’s levy is 3.6% lower than last year. The Village anticipates increases in the Village's equalized assessed valuation (EAV) from new development adding to the tax rolls. As a result, it is anticipated that the property tax rate will decrease by approximately 12.31% with the approved tax levy. Overall, with the approved tax levy, the property tax rate has decreased 21.98% from 2016. /&8 3&7&/6& 4063$&4 Following an extensive financial planning process, the Village eliminated vehicle stickers and lowered the property UBY levy. To adequately fund the Village current and future capital program, a utility tax for natural gas and electricity was added, and the home rule sales tax rate was increased from 0.75% to 1.25%. Even with the additional revenue, the Village will continue to examine municipal services for efficiency, effectiveness, usefulness and sustainability, and develop options and strategies that enable the Village to match resources (financial, physical and human) to the desired level of service. 1&340//&- $)"/(&4 For the past few years, the Village has eliminated a number of positions. None of the eliminated positions have been sworn police positions. After several positions were eliminated, some positions are being added where long-term staffing costs are more affordable than outsourcing.
