FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM

The Orland Park Police Department Field Training and Evaluation Program is the continued selection process that combines field training with objective evaluations to ensure the probationary patrol officer meets the standards of a solo police officer. The information and instruction provided throughout the program is intended to supplement the knowledge the probationary patrol officer obtained during academy training and prepare him or her for the in-field application of that knowledge.

The Orland Park Police Department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program consists of one program coordinator, three supervisors and eight field training officers. In 2024, seven probationary officers were enrolled in the 16 week program.
