FISHING Beautiful Lake Sedgewick in Orland Park is known for its fishing, but did you know that there are 18 lakes within the Village where you can enjoy this peaceful pastime? Fishing is allowed and encouraged at all our ponds, we simply ask that you abide by our “Catch and Release Policy.” A valid Illinois fishing license is required for anglers 16 years of age and older. PICKLEBALL Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Two, three or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications. BIKE & WALKING PATHS The beauty of Orland Park can be enjoyed daily, soaking in the sunshine and breathing in the fresh, brisk air among our intricate system of walking and bike paths. Every year the Village works to expand and improve these paths. Currently, 34 Village parks are an integral part of this system with direct access. See pages 104-105 to discover which park near you provides access to your next walk or ride through nature. HORSESHOES Dating back to the turn of the twentieth century, horseshoes is a game played with two teams of one or two players each. Opponents toss horseshoes, trying to wrap them around a target (stake) in the lawn or a sandbox area. Be sure to bring your own horseshoes to enjoy the sport at any one of Orland Park’s seven parks with horseshoe courts.
