PICKLEBALL Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Two, three or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications. BIKE & WALKING PATHS The beauty of Orland Park can be enjoyed daily, soaking in the sunshine and breathing in the fresh, brisk air among our intricate system of walking and bike paths. Every year the Village works to expand and improve these paths. Currently, 34 Village parks are an integral part of this system with direct access. See pages 104-105 to discover which park near you provides access to your next walk or ride through nature. HORSESHOES Dating back to the turn of the twentieth century, horseshoes is a game played with two teams of one or two players each. Opponents toss horseshoes, trying to wrap them around a target (stake) in the lawn or a sandbox area. Be sure to bring your own horseshoes to enjoy the sport at any one of Orland Park’s seven parks with horseshoe courts.
Orland Park is home to 70 parks. No matter where you live in the community, there is a park nearby. Visit one today.
