STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL: QUALITY OF LIFE

PURPOSE

To provide officers with fewer workdays in each week, contributing to better quality of life, while reducing overtime demands and still maintaining the high standards and productivity of the Police Department.

GOAL NO. 2

DIVISION FUNCTIONS

To establish a Designated Observer/Marksman program within the department.

The function of the Patrol Division is to provide professional, proactive and reactive police service to the residents, businesses and visitors of the Village of Orland Park. The primary responsibilities of the Patrol Division Units are: • Emergency response to criminal and non-criminal activity • Response to criminal and quasi-criminal activity • Response to nuisance and ordinance violations • High-visibility patrol throughout Village • Emphasize problem-solving

OBJECTIVE

To train and develop select tactical officers in observation, surveillance and precision long-range marksmanship to provide intelligence and key information when necessary.

PURPOSE

To enhance safety and security at the various public events hosted within the Village throughout the year. They will provide key observations during major events, relaying information and providing immediate counter-threat response as needed.

GOAL NO. 1

To successfully transition the Patrol Division to new 12 Hour Shifts.

COMPLETION DATE

OBJECTIVE

To modify the current 8-Hour Shift rotations into a new 12-Hour Shift rotation. Integrate a modified schedule that incorporates on-duty training and increased minimum shift strength, while decreasing response time and improving officer productivity.
