Ensure Professionalism, Accountability and Professional Development. The integrity and competence of investigators are paramount to maintaining public trust and achieving successful legal outcomes. As investigative techniques and crime trends continue to evolve, ensuring that investigators maintain an advanced skill set is essential for continued success. Ensuring investigators receive the highest level of training enhances case outcomes and improves support provided to victims.
OBJECTIVE 1
DIVISION FUNCTIONS
Support Advanced Certifications and Specialized Skill Development.
The function of the Investigations Division includes conducting follow-up investigations involving criminal and quasi-criminal activity and conducting business licensing and employment background investigations. Other functions of the Investigative Services Division include: • Provide drug interdiction, education and enforcement activities, programs and initiatives • Provide crime prevention and community relations activities, programs and training • Coordinate efforts related to major case investigations and regional task forces • Maintain a registration and investigate compliance on mandatory sex offender registrants • Provide an enhanced response and support to victims of domestic violence and elder abuse
PURPOSE 1
•Encourage and support investigators in obtaining advanced certifications relevant to the division’s needs. •Build internal subject matter experts who can serve as resources for major case support and digital evidence processing. •Promote attendance at conferences and training programs to stay current on best practices, legal updates and technological advancements. •Identify key training areas needed to strengthen the division in homicide investigations, digital forensics, financial crimes, interview and interrogation.
