The Department of Information Technology is responsible for applications, IT hardware, telephony and cyber security for the Village. The mission of the Department of Information Technology is to support Village services by providing innovative, reliable, cost effective and secure technology that enables Village residents and staff to quickly and effortlessly access accurate information. The department continually evaluates the systems and processes and employs helpful and competent IT personnel. To this end, the department completed over 17 projects this past year, including upgrading all computers to Windows 11, infrastructure upgrades to the phone system and running networking and bringing on-line the new Police Training Facility. This year concluded the deployment of Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP). Previous years’ implementations focused on back-office modules such as Finance, HR and Payroll. The 2025 deployments are much more resident and-business-focused with Permitting and Licensing, Cashiering and Utility Billing software suites all going live. While the main software is now live, the department will continue to work to make it easier for residents to interact with the Village. Looking forward, artificial intelligence is going to impact the way businesses function and the Village is not immune to the impact. The IT department is looking at ways that AI can benefit the Village and its residents. A new Board has been created, the AI and Information Technology Board, to help with guiding the Village on its AI journey. This Board consists of local residents that are experts in their fields. With their guidance, we anticipate that AI will help the Village provide better services quicker.
