RECREATION & PARKS
The Recreation & Parks Department strives to enhance the quality of life for those who live in, work in and visit Orland Park through a large variety of opportunities, including recreation, fitness, aquatics, athletic fields, facilities and special events for all ages and interests. The department is made up of 10 divisions and 12 dedicated funds, supported by a team of 33 full-time employees, 267 year-round part-time staff members, and 368 seasonal employees who help deliver programs and services throughout the year.
In addition to these facilities, the department schedules, manages and maintains Centennial Park, the John Humphrey Complex, Schussler Park artificial turf fields, 22 neighborhood baseball and softball fields, 20 soccer and lacrosse fields and 48 athletic courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball, volleyball and bocce ball—providing spaces for play, fitness and community connection year-round. The Orland Park Health and Fitness Center (OPHFC) is operated by a third-party vendor under the direction of Recreation and Parks.

Completed and Upcoming Projects
Schussler Park Phase II Phase II of the Schussler Park renovation will begin in early 2026. Phase II will include the installation of a 6,391 sq. ft. all-inclusive playground in which individuals of all abilities can play and interact side-by-side, a 24’ x 48’ pavilion and a half-basketball court.
The Recreation and Parks Department offers a variety of parks, facilities and programs designed for families and residents of all ages. Community facilities include the Sportsplex, Centennial Park Aquatic Center, Franklin Loebe Center, Civic Center, Studio VOP, Winter Wonderland Ice Rink, DogOut Dog Park, Grinding Edge Skate Park and Centennial Park West.
