Special Recreation Division In 2025, the Special Recreation Division continued its mission of supporting and providing first-class therapeutic recreation services to individuals with special needs of all ages from Orland Park and surrounding communities. In 2025, participation in programs reached new record highs, reflecting the division’s commitment to service excellence. 294 individuals participated in 132 programs including athletics, health and fitness, social clubs, Special Olympics Illinois, day and overnight trips, arts and crafts, performing arts and more. 2025 participation increased 5% to 1,795 registrations, including 1,423 resident registrations. Revenues increased by 11%, totaling $25,248 as compared to 2024. 2025 Highlights: • State Champions: Lady Owls basketball team and Owls flag football co-ed team • Over 50 Owls athletes competed in the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games Tournament across three days at Illinois State University earning 20 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze medals • Two athletes of the Owls golf team advanced to state, earning one gold and one bronze medal • 16 participants enjoyed the summer trip of a lifetime over five days in Lake Geneva, WI • 13 participants traveled to Galena, IL for the annual fall trip over three days • The annual Sports Banquet welcomed and honored over 200 Owls athletes, family members and coaches • 170 participants from seven agencies enjoyed a night of food and dancing at the annual Shamrock Shuffle • The 2025 Winter Ball experienced a record number of attendees as over 200 participants enjoyed a festive celebration which included the Carl Sandburg Choir

Heritage Sites Division The Heritage Sites Division aims to inspire a sense of community by offering engaging and educational displays and programs. The division oversees the collection and preservation of artifacts that document the history of the Orland Park area and its relationship to local, state and national history. In 2025, the Heritage Sites earned the Award of Excellence from the Illinois Museum Association for Best Practices in Digital Accessibility, which recognized efforts to engage the community in local history despite no longer having a physical museum building. 2026 Heritage Sites Strategic Plan Objectives • Increase number of Humphrey House and Stellwagen Farm programs • Display artifacts at Village Hall, Village Facilities and Orland Park Public Library • Make restorations to Heritage Sites to preserve each for future generations 2025 Restorations The John Humphrey House underwent the following restorations: • Environmental remediation of lead-based and asbestos-containing materials • Installation of wood columns and girders in basement • Sister joist installations in the basement • Foundation waterproofing, including installation of exterior foundation drain • Installation of new chase walls around new ducts • Expansion of the east vestibule to meet ADA requirements • Sidewalk removal and replacement • Site restoration, paint repair, HVAC installation, foundation underpinning and electrical upgrades
