LETTER FROM THE MAYOR

Additionally, I would like to thank our entire Police Department for all that they do to keep us safe. The last 6 years have the lowest index crimes in the 31-year that we have been tracking index crimes. It led to us having #2 lowest property crime rate and #5 lowest violent crime rate out of the 360 largest suburbs in the United States and the lowest violent crime rate for towns over 50,000 people in the State of Illinois. We also have the safest mall in the Chicagoland area thanks to the OPPD’s fine work. I want to extend my thanks to everyone who attended the mayor’s events in 2024. These events are great ways to learn all about the happenings in the Village, as well as great opportunities to ask me questions in person. Be on the lookout on the Village website and social media for information on the next event. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and those of you who may be attending for the first time in 2025. Please visit page 8 for important winter safety information. Winter is often a treacherous time for seniors and their families. This important information covers fire safety and everything you may face during the winter months. Please take every precaution you can to prevent falling! The

If you are looking for a great way to incorporate a bit of exercise into your routine, take a look at some of the great adult and senior programs offered by the Orland Park Health and Fitness Center and Sportsplex highlighted in this newsletter on pages 20-27. for all you do to make Orland Park the wonderful community it is today. The senior population in Orland Park continues to be an integral part of the fiber of our community. I am amazed by your influence, strength and the example each of you set for the rest of the community. We’ve had an exciting winter season here in Orland Park already! From weather highs and lows to the fantastic Christmas events, it was great seeing everyone out and about and taking it all in. 2024 was a year full of exciting changes at the Village, including the new permanent stage at Centennial Park West. With tens of thousands of visitors attending our CPW concerts, Market at the Park and of course, the Taste of Orland Park, Centennial Park West will be the focal point of entertainment in our region for years to come. Schussler Park has blossomed into a sports hub for all to enjoy. The park has received nothing but high praise from the community. With the All Inclusive Playground installation scheduled for 2025, Schussler Park will be a place for everyone in Orland Park.
