ORLAND PARK HERITAGE SITES

The Village of Orland Park is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community through the Orland Park Heritage Sites’ programs and exhibits, while preserving and safeguarding artifacts that tell the story of Orland’s rich history and its connections to local, state and national events. The area now known as Orland Park was first settled in the 1830s. The Village of Orland Park was incorporated in 1892, with Senator John Humphrey serving as its first Village President. The Village Hall display cases are updated seasonally. The current display focuses on the history of the Christmas season in Orland Park. We encourage everyone to stop by Village Hall to view the current and future displays. VILLAGE HALL DISPLAY CASES

HAVE HISTORIC ITEMS? The Village of Orland Park has a large collection of artifacts pertaining to the history of the area. The archival collection includes letters, documents, maps, blueprints, diaries, books and photographs. The Village is always looking for items that are significant to local history. Below is a list of some of the current items we are in search of: • Carl Sandburg High School yearbooks • Plat books or maps of Orland Park • Village directories • Photographs of businesses (current or businesses that are no longer in operation), street views, homes and families • Old local business ads or receipts • Postcards received by or sent by Orland Park families • Textiles If you have something you would like to donate, please call (708) 403-6268 or email our Heritage Sites Supervisor Libby Paulson at epaulson@orlandpark.org.
