Victorian Language of Flowers SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7 1:30 p.m. | Studio VOP Theater (14409 Beacon Ave.) The Village of Orland Park invites you to enjoy all that the Orland Park Heritage Sites have to offer by signing up for an annual membership. Step into the romantic world of Victorian floriography! Learn how flowers were used to send secret messages, decode the meanings of different blooms and interpret displayed floral arrangements. Participants will learn about the symbolic tussie-mussie bouquet and will be able to make their own to take home.

Did you know that using shells in arts and crafts dates all the way back to the ancient period? By the eighteenth century, shellwork had become a popular craft for upper-class Victorian ladies. In this historic craft workshop, participants will learn about the history of Victorian shell art and “sailor’s valentines,” then have the opportunity to create their own shell mosaic to take home.
