BAGELS WITH MAYOR DODGE: HONOR FLIGHT CHICAGO Honor Flights

Mayor Jim Dodge and Director of Honor Flight Chicago Doug Meffley recently welcomed local veterans to Bagels with Mayor Dodge, a community conversation focused on topics important to those who have served our nation. The gathering gave veterans an opportunity to connect, share their experiences and learn about programs designed to recognize and support their service, including the work being done by Honor Flight Chicago. Honor Flight Chicago’s mission is to honor, thank and inspire by building awareness and appreciation for the sacrifices made by America’s veterans. Its signature program, the Day of Honor, provides veterans with an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials dedicated to those who served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Beyond these experiences, Honor Flight Chicago engages communities and students through Operation Education, using veterans’ stories to inspire future generations to better understand service and sacrifice. With the support of donors and volunteers, the organization continues to expand its mission to honor veterans of past, present and future conflicts.
