Junior Fun-Gineering Young children love to build with Legos and building is a great way to enter the world of engineering. Using LEGO educational sets, students will work in teams to explore simple machines by building fun, moveable models. Children will learn the basic concepts of physical science & engineering in a fun, creative way.

CHECK OUT page 18 FOR adult & senior computer classes. Alien Invasion Robotics Challenge Join Computer Explorers for this one-day Alien Invasion Challenge. LEGO astronauts have crash landed onto an alien planet and they need your help! Using LEGO Mindstorms™ systems and infrared technology, students will work in teams to build and program a robot craft to help the astronauts explore the planet. Students will learn basic programming and put their skills to the test by navigating a challenge course.

Attention LEGO builders! In this 2-day session, budding engineers will choose and build their own projects while learning about simple machines using LEGOEducational Kits. Instructors will discuss concepts of pulleys, levers, wheels, and gears while students work in teams to bring their projects to life using battery operated motors. Participants will explore, investigate, and solve problems in a fun group environment.

Movie Making Mini Camp In this movie making mini-camp for younger minds, students will make their very own animated movie featuring Spongebob™ or Batman™. Students will work in teams to create scripts, build scenes, and film their movies. Focus will be on stop-motion animation techniques, storyboarding and creating special effects. A private screening for family and friends will take place on the last day of class, and students will receive a copy of their movie.

Claymation Cinema Mini Class Younger students will bring art and technology together and film their very own claymation animated movie. Students will work together to create characters out of clay and bring their creation to life using digital cameras and animation software. They will learn animation concepts, develop a plan for their story, and discover creative ways to build the characters. Some examples of claymation movies include: James and the Giant Peach™or Wallace and Gromit™. Students will take home a clay model and receive a CD copy of their movie to play at home.
