July Senior Newsletter 2022

LETTER FROM THE MAYOR

We have made great strides in recent months as a Village. Orland Park was named one of Chicago Magazine’s Best Places to Live in the June/July 2022 edition of the publication, citing the area’s livability and thriving real estate market and property values. We were once again awarded the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award from the Government Finance Officers Association this year, a wonderful accomplishment by the finance department. The Village’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center received a “5- Star” Aquatic Safety Award in recognition of the Centennial Park Aquatic Center’s (CPAC) efforts as above the industry standard, reflecting a proactive approach to aquatic risk prevention. Our new website, which was unveiled in August of 2021, was recently named Website of the Year by Granicus for its user-friendly design and three-click feature. All of these accomplishments recognitions in the short time since the last senior magazine was delivered. We can be very proud of the work the Village is doing to maintain the standards we have come to expect from Orland

Park. Congratulations to the community!

Within the pages of this edition of the Village of Orland Park Senior Newsletter, I hope you find information that is useful and informative. Included are tips to help you stay safe from the Orland Park Police Department, balance and agility exercises from local health experts and even a sweet summer strawberry recipe approved by a nutritionist. I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events that you will find in the calendar on page 1 and throughout the publication. The Centennial Park West Concert Series has two more great shows, so come on out for a fun time with your friends and families.

Dear Orland Park Seniors,

Summertime in Orland Park is one of my favorite times of the year. Thank you to each of you for being active and present at many of the Village events and programs. The senior population in Orland Park continues to be an integral part of the fiber of our community. I am amazed by your influence, strength and the example each of you set for the rest of the community. Thank you to everyone who came out to help assemble the care packages for the troops at Apple Chevrolet. And if you didn’t make it to this event, we have many opportunities to help on our website at orlandpark. org/veterans or for all volunteer opportunities, orlandpark.org/ volunteer.

Have a wonderful and safe rest of your summer season!

Mayor Keith Pekau
