LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
2026 Illinois Municipal League Lobby Day Mayor Jim Dodge recently led Orland Park’s participation in the Illinois Municipal League (IML) Lobby Day 2026 in Springfield, representing the interests of our community directly with our state legislators. During his time in Springfield, Mayor Dodge met with all four state senators who represent Orland Park: Senator Bill Cunningham (District 18), Senator Michael E. Hastings (District 19), Senator Emil Jones III (District 14) and Senator John Curran (District 41). Key topics of discussion included: • The Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF): the state’s critical revenue-sharing program that returns a portion of Illinois income tax collections to municipalities on a per capita basis, directly supporting essential Village services including public safety, infrastructure and road maintenance. • The BUILD Act & Housing Initiatives: Mayor Dodge engaged our legislative delegation in conversations around housing initiatives currently being considered in Springfield, ensuring that Orland Park’s voice is part of the broader discussion on how new housing policies will impact our community and region. By taking an active leadership role at IML Lobby Day, Mayor Dodge is working to ensure that Orland Park has a strong, visible presence in Springfield, working collaboratively with the Village’s legislative delegation, across party lines, to advance the priorities that matter most to our residents. The Village of Orland Park remains committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility and strong advocacy on behalf of the residents it serves. BOARD MEETING BRIEF The Board Meeting Brief is designed to keep residents informed of key outcomes, discussions and decisions from recent meetings. Every other week, following the Village Board meetings, the Board Meeting Brief will be emailed to residents and provides a high-level summary of important actions taken during the Committee of the Whole, the Board of Trustees and the Plan Commission meetings.
