Weekly Recycling Began November 4th

Weekly recycling service for residents of the Village of Orland Park began the week of November 4 with trash collection continuing on a weekly basis. As part of the new ten-year contract approved by the village and Waste Management in June, village residents will receive increased recycling service with collection every week. The gray containers, issued at no additional cost to each household, are designated for trash materials, and the blue carts remain for recyclables.

“Increasing the recycling collection was a key part of the new agreement,” said Mayor Dan McLaughlin. “In addition to the increased recycling service, the new refuse carts provided by Waste Management will result in a cleaner community and eliminate the residents’ need to purchase their own refuse carts.” Residents are reminded that their refuse, recycling and yard waste should be placed at the curb by 6a.m. on their day of collection. There will be no collection service on six designated holidays including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If a scheduled collection falls on a holiday or the day after, collection will be delayed one day.
