Isn’t it great to have the cold weather behind us so that we can enjoy the beauty of the warm months in Orland Park? We have not skipped a beat and are already gearing up for another great season of great events and tasks. We officially welcomed summer to Orland Park during Memorial Day Weekend. Orland Park’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center opened for the 2016 season on Saturday, May 28th. We want to hear from you. There are many ways to stay connected with village staff and elected officials. Feedback from the community, whether from a survey or a phone call from a resident, is a valuable resource. It helps the village plan, resolve issues and opens up another line of direct communication. So, give us a call, reach out on social media, participate in the new Grapevine online directly from our website, or just stop in at any of the village facilities. Summer in Orland Park brings many events and fun activities. The village’s outdoor summer concerts have quickly become an area favorite. See page 16 for more dates, times and details. Are you up for a challenge? It is my goal to make the Taste of Orland Park more environmentally friendly. Please join me in placing trash in appropriately labeled bins and help us move towards Zero Waste at the Taste. We honored and remembered all fallen heroes at the village’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30th. The names of 35 veterans have been added to Orland Park’s granite wall since our Veteran’s Day ceremony. It was wonderful to see all of the veterans and families at the event. More than 15 thousand households completed their Property Tax Rebate Applications. We were pleased to be able to, once again, refund a portion of residents’ property taxes. The village is working hard to alleviate traffic and make traveling throughout Orland Park a more enjoyable experience. We are nearing the completion of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s widening of LaGrange Road.
