LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE

NATURE CENTER PLANNED ALONG LAGRANGE ROAD In 2012, the Village of Orland Park Open Lands purchased the former “Pebble Creek Nursery” property located on LaGrange Road just north of the Metra bridge. The long term vision is to develop a small nature center with indoor and outdoor learning opportunities and to restore native wildlife and plant communities. To date, the site has been cleared of most of the debris and invasive plants that were left behind by the former use. Currently, LaGrange Road widening activities are in full swing along the property’s western border. The Open Lands Commission is studying various options for site redevelopment, and will present ideas and solicit public input at a meeting in the near future.
