VOP Summer Fall 2015

VIETNAM MOVING WALL

Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemorative Partnership

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Village of Orland Park is a proud commemorative partner for the Vietnam War Commemoration planned by the United States Department of Defense. The department is conducting a program to observe the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War during the commemorative period of 2015 to 2017. As a partner, the village will plan and carry out at least two events each year during this period. These events, held across the country, will recognize, thank and honor Vietnam Veterans and their families. The Vietnam Moving Wall and the Agent Orange Quilt of Tears will return to Orland Park October 1-4, 2015.

The Village of Orland Park Veterans Commission is looking for volunteers to fill day or evening four-hour shifts when The Vietnam War Memorial Moving Wall returns to the Orland Park Village Center October 1-4, 2015. The wall remains open 24-hours from noon Oct. 1 to 6 a.m. Oct. 5. Tasks include hosting the wall to maintain a quiet atmosphere and helping visitors locate names on the wall. Volunteers do not have to be veterans to help. Send your name, cell phone number and email address to veterans@orlandpark.org. State whether you would like to work a day or evening shift.

Area Vietnam Veterans, their families and friends are invited to send an email to MayorsVietnamVets@orlandpark.org to be added to the village’s mailing list for Orland Park’s upcoming 50th anniversary commemoration events. The email addresses would be used only for that purpose.
