2022 GRANT FUNDING FOR ROADDESIGNANDCONSTRUCTION

The Engineering Department has multiple ongoing capital improvement projects throughout the Village of Orland Park that will improve bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular travel and safety throughout the Village. Below is an update on the projects that include the grant funding secured and applied for to fund the design and construction of the projects. The Village seeks and applies for local, federal and state funding on an ongoing basis in an effort to reduce the project cost burden for the Village.

104th Avenue Multi-Use Path (159th Street to 163rd Place) Design Engineering In July 2022, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved grant funding through Cook County Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) for transportation-related projects. The Village of Orland Park will receive $486,500 for the construction of an 8-ft. wide multi-use path. The Village was previously awarded $1,352,000 in Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) funding and the project is expected to be bid in the fall of 2022 through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Final design engineering is being finalized in an effort to get the project to construction. It is anticipated that construction would begin in the spring of 2023 and completed by the fall of 2023.
