ANNUAL BICYCLE RIDE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ILLINOIS The Orland Park Police Department’s late summer bike ride to benefit Special Olympics Illinois returns Sunday, August 27. The ride is open to those age 12 and older, and the cost is $30 per person. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Make checks payable to Special Olympics Illinois. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and the ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. The event will begin and end at Fattie’s Pub in Orland Park (14420 John Humphrey Drive). Riders will travel through picturesque Orland Park, enjoying the route as this is NOT a race but a leisurely-paced ride. A water break will be held at the mid-point of the event. A complimentary buffet with coffee and soft drinks will be available following the ride. CYCLE ACROSS ILLINOIS On Thursday, July 13, members of the Orland Park Police Department set off from Springfield to take part in the 19th Annual CYCLE Across Illinois. CYCLE Across Illinois is a charity bicycle ride from Springfield to Rosemont benefitting the Illinois Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. The 4-day ride covered over 300 miles.
