›x %ɷRn—›xÆ.n.pªɷ—›xF› n ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

A street maintenance program is approved annually by the Mayor and Board of Trustees wherein various Village-owned streets are scheduled for rehabilitation. The purpose of this program is to reconstruct streets that have shown signs of deterioration over and above the normal maintenance. An original Village plan from early 2017 left over 40% of roads in poor condition, and over10% in very poor condition. Since that study, road improvement funds have been increased to reduce the backlog of neighborhood road repairs. The program includes replacement of hazardous sidewalks, repair or replacement of non-functioning curbs and gutters, milling of existing streets, new surface layers of asphalts, and construction of ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and crosswalks. Miscellaneous roadway preservation procedures including patching and crack sealing will continue to be completed in areas throughout the Village not yet scheduled for the complete road improvement program. Areas completed in 2023 include El Cameno Re’al, Brentwood Hills, Clearview Estates (West), Eagle Ridge II, Palos Springs, The People’s Orland Park, Wildwood Hills, Cameno Terrace, Crystal Ridge, Deer Chase Estates, Georgetown, and Swallow Ridge. Road Improvements for 2024 are budgeted at $6.35 million, and will include the latest road scan recommendations to determine the road repair locations. 130+&$54 '&3/8": 46#%*7*4*0/ 30"% %*5$) *.1307&.&/54 In 2022, Phase Six of Fernway was completed in the Spring. Phases Seven through Nine were planned in the Fernway Subdivision, but due to supply chain issues and utilities conflicts, work began in Spring of 2023 and was overseen by the Public Works Department. This included storm water improvements and road repairs valued at $4.2 million. -"(6/" 800%4 30"% %*5$) *.1307&.&/54 In 2022, Laguna Woods Subdivision was designed with the same design criteria of road and ditch improvements similar to the Fernway Subdivision. Work started in Spring of 2023 and continued through the year. The subdivision was annexed in early 1990s, and while water and sanitary sewer were constructed, the roads required reconstruction. This included storm water improvements and road repairs valued at $2.85 million. 03-"/% )*--4 30"% %*5$) *.1307&.&/54 Orland Hills West has been designed this year similar to Laguna Woods and Fernway for construction in 2024.
