ENGINEERING The Engineering Department oversees the design, construction, and inspections of the Village's engineering, developments, transportation and infrastructure projects. E OHJOFFSJOH seeks grant funding for Village projects. Infrastructure elements consist of roadway, traffic flow and safety improvements, bike paths and sidewalks, water main, stormwater, sanitary sewer, and telecommunication services. E OHJOFFSJOH supports Village departments, the review of development engineering plans, engineering permit reviews and the procurement and management of consultants and contractors for capital improvement projects BOE is responsible for compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. 5IF &OHJOFFSJOH %FQBSUNFOU T mission is to enhance transportation, utilities, safety and health in the Village by providing economical, responsive, and effective professional engineering services. The department employs qualified and competent engineers, professionals, consultants and contractors, who cultivate an innovative and collaborative work environment. The 7JMMBHF PG 0SMBOE 1BSL &OHJOFFSJOH Department collectively has over 115 years of engineering, consulting, inspection and administrative experience. This includes over 63 years of experience in engineering and consulting services. (PBMT BOE 0CKFDUJWFT Engineering T overall goals and objectives of the current and future infrastructure include: • Develop a vision of future infrastructure based on expected life of existing infrastructures, potential needs and location of future developments, enhancements in technology and material, and other similar long-term factors • First and long-term maintenance costs must provide greater than 1.0 benefit/ cost ratios • Must be low maintenance, durable, high efficiency, and long life with proper maintenance • Must include sustainable green infrastructure elements
