the Village of Orland Park reserves the right to discontinue services. Please indicate at the time of registration that 1:1 assistance is needed. Programs that are not eligible for 1:1 services are as follows: parent tot classes, off-site and /or contracted programs, personal training and day care services. Circumstances when an inclusion aide isn’t available to provide services, Special Recreation staff will provide inclusion training to mainstream recreation instructors to best meet the needs of the individual in his/her class. If you are requesting inclusion services at the time of registration, you must contact the Special Recreation Senior Coordinator at 708.403.6202, two weeks prior to the start of the program. Last minute requests will not guarantee an aide, please register early. BEHAVIOR POLICY The Village of Orland Park has an established behavior policy relative to inappropriate behavior. Inappropriate behavior is defined as behavior which disrupts a recreation program and requires a program leader to call for a stop to the behavior due to its impact on other participants or on the leader’s ability to effectively conduct the program. Such behavior may call for immediate and/ or permanent dismissal of the participant. Additional rules may be developed for individual programs and athletic events as deemed necessary by staff. For more information on the policy, please call 708.403.5000. BIRTH CERTIFICATES A certified copy of a birth certificate issued by the county in which the child was born will be required for all children 5 years and younger at initial preschool registration. HOSPITAL COPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. If your child was born in Cook County, IL, you may call the Cook County Clerk’s Office 708.974.6150. If your
child was born in Illinois, but outside Cook County, call the Department of Vital Records of the county in which your child was born. Birth certificates may also be requested if a child’s age is in question. Birth certificates can be brought to the Sportsplex or emailed to orlandrecreation@orlandpark.org. BOATING Boats with electric trolling motors are allowed for fishing on Lake Sedgewick. Only watercraft complying with state registration requirements and safety regulations are allowed. Boaters 16 years of age & younger must wear life vests at all times. DOGS IN PARKS All dogs shall be restrained at all times on adequate leashes no greater than five feet (5’) in length. Any person responsible for the entry of a dog or other domestic animal shall immediately remove any animal droppings left by the animal to the nearest refuse container. EDITORIAL POLICY Although the Village of Orland Park makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information in our publications, an occasional error may occur. EMAIL RECEIPTS In our efforts to “Go Green,” the Recreation and Parks Department is working toward paperless communication. We are requesting registrants submit their email address at time of registration. Once registration for a program has been completed, an email confirmation will be sent.
The Village of Orland Park advocates for full participation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A request for ADA accommodations or assistance at a program is required at the time of registration. Please mark the ADA box on the registration form. NOTE: Early registration, along with a request for accommodation, is strongly suggested to assure that appropriate modifications are secured prior to the start of the program. Two weeks advance notification is required to allow for arrangement of modifications/accommodations. Every attempt at reasonable accommodations will be made so that individuals may participate in a desired program. A reasonable accommodation can include: additional staff support behavior management plans, providing adaptive materials and activity modification. The Village of Orland Park will not be able to provide accommodations that would financially hinder or fundamentally alter the overall structure of the recreation program. It may not be possible for the participant to attend the program until modifications are provided. INCLUSION Inclusion provides assistance to individuals with disabilities to successfully participate in mainstream recreation programming. We strive to make these programs an optimal experience by providing reasonable accommodations to the program activity. The Special Recreation Division provides inclusion assistance to programs serving individuals ages three years and up. Inclusion services are provided to the participant free of charge. Participants are expected to adhere to the code of conduct provided by the Village of Orland Park. If a program is deemed not appropriate for the participant,
