23 OP Fall Senior Newsletter

LETTER FROM THE MAYOR

We also hosted our 20th Annual Taste of Orland Park the first weekend of August, and this year was definitely a treat. While many of the participating restaurants were long time local favorites, some were relatively new to the event. It was great to see the large variety of offerings from local franchises as well as many independently-owned restaurants. It was a fitting end to our 20th year on the Village green, as next year, the Taste of Orland Park will be moving to the new Centennial Park West venue. You can view information about the renovations on the Village website. Please take a moment to look at our calendar on page 1 to view the events coming this fall. Veterans Day is right around the corner. As a veteran myself, it always fills me with pride seeing the community come together to honor those who have served our great nation by adding veterans’ names to Ara Pace- Place of Peace Memorial in front of Village Hall. If you would like to learn more about this event, visit orlandpark.org/veterans. In addition, the famous Turkey Trot is approaching quickly! Join us on Thanksgiving morning on a 2.5 mile cross-country run or

cheer on your family members from the side lines! Don’t forget, if you’re interested in this event the registration deadline is November 15 or until capacity is reached. If you are looking for a great way to incorporate a bit of exercise into your routine, take a look at some of the great adult and senior programs offered by the OPHFC and Sportsplex highlighted in this newsletter. each and every one of you for all you do to make Orland Park the wonderful community it is today. The senior population in Orland Park continues to be an integral part of the fiber of our community. I am amazed by your influence, strength and the example each of you set for the rest of the community. As we head into the season of giving thanks, I want to thank As always, if you have questions and/or suggestions, please reach out to any of the Village’s departments directly or visit us online at orlandpark.org.

Dear Orland Park Seniors,

It’s autumn in Orland Park, one of my favorite times of the year. Orland Park’s trails, parks and facilities are ready for your visits and we have plenty in store for the season. Market at the Park was a successful anchor of our summer events. This year’s 10 full weeks of markets at Crescent Park featured over 50 vendors, free live entertainment and a fun, community atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who attended our July 4 event as well as our Centennial Park West Concerts this summer. It was so wonderful to see the community having fun together. We appreciate the support we were given by local businesses at this event and look forward to seeing you all next summer.
