2023 Recreation & Parks Athletic Surfaces Projects • Restoration and resurfacing of the basketball courts at Helen Park and Evergreen View Park. • Restoration of bocce ball courts at Evergreen View Park, Doogan Park and Discovery Park.

• Replacement of Centennial Park baseball/softball fields 1 - 5 backstops.

• Installation of batting cages for athletic organization use at Centennial Park and the John Humphry Complex.

Coming in 2024! Schussler Park Artificial Turf Fields Developed with the help of residents in the 1960s, Schussler Park has served as a community park providing fields for Orland Park athletic organizations to play soccer, baseball and softball, as well as providing for residents a park to recreate at the playground, basketball court, tennis courts and sledding hill. The park sits in a flood plain which has negatively impacted the ability to utilize athletic fields. Beginning in 2023, Schussler Park will undergo a major renovation. When complete, the park will include two full size artificial turf fields for football, soccer and lacrosse. The Schussler Pond will be dredged and outcroppings installed to serve as new fishing perches. The beloved sledding hill will be relocated to the northwest corner allowing families to continue this favorite winter activity. In phase II of this project (expected in 2025), a playground, pavilion, and half basketball court will be added.
