The mission of the Development Services Department is to enhance the quality of life in the community through long-term planning, and development design review, as well as to promote economic growth by encouraging neighborhood investment, business expansion, business retention, and community revitalization. In 2022, Development Services welcomed a myriad of new businesses to Orland Park, guided new developments through the Plan Commission, and began restructuring our development processes. 2023 Department Initiatives • Complete and implement the recommendations of our LEAN assessment to improve department processes • Overhaul and streamline the processes for new development • Begin the process of simplifying and reorganizing the Land Development Code • Continue the Business Retention and Expansion Program

• Explore the processes for accrediting the Building and Economic Development divisions • Finalize the Master Development Agreement for the Downtown Main Street Triangle • Adopt and prepare amendments to the 2018 International Fire Code

2022 Department Achievements • Completed and approved the Annexation Study Update

• Made significant progress toward Tyler's Enterprise Permitting & Licensing software implementation • Began LEAN review with the goal of analyzing and optimizing processes in the department • Transitioned Code Enforcement Division activities to the Police Department • Implemented new Special Event process • Facilitated the Village Board’s selection of a Master Developer for the Main Street Triangle • Continued restructuring of the Department • Prepared for the implementation of a new data and permit management system
