2025 Budget In Brief
ENGINEERING COMPLETED PROJECTS 2024
Survey Benchmark Monument Installation Construction and planning of the Survey Benchmark Monumentation and Documentation was completed in 2024. This is comprised of an approximately one-mile grid within the Village limits and 33 Benchmark locations. A survey benchmark system can greatly improve the accuracy and consistency of elevation measurements, which can help avoid costly mistakes in infrastructure design, layout, construction and maintenance. This will benefit the Village and our residents, as well as support other government agencies, private developers, contractors and utility companies. The Survey Benchmark locations are now publicly available on the Village’s website. You may visit the Village website at orlandpark-vop.hub.arcgis.com and click on “Survey Benchmark Viewer” to view all 33 Benchmark locations throughout the Village of Orland Park.
Main Pump Station Bypass The project will provide an additional layer of infrastructural redundancy for maintaining the Village’s water supply. The improvement will provide an emergency connection inside of the pump station that will allow the Village to maintain water service to the community directly from the Village of Oak Lawn. Emergency connections and valves were designed to fit the existing infrastructure inside the pump station. This project was completed at the end of 2024. Before After
Water Main, Stormwater and Sanitary Main Future Need Study In October 2024, Engineering received the final Utility Needs Assessment study. This study evaluated existing and future needs for water main, stormwater and sanitary systems that would service properties located at the I-80 Corridor, Cog Hill property, Gallagher and Henry properties, NE corner of 153rd Street and Wolf Road, southwest of Petey’s II, Silver Lake Golf Course and properties located south of Costco. In early 2025, Engineering staff will present the findings and recommend a course of action to Village Staff and the Village Board.
Schussler Park Renovations Engineering staff is providing project management support for the Schussler Park Renovations. The $13 million project includes engineering items such as dredging of the existing pond, a new underground stormwater detention system, new parking lot, lighting and two state-of-the-art artificial turf fields and amenities.
Boley Farm Deconstruction and Salvage In 2024, the Village completed a project to deconstruct and salvage nine structures on the Glen Boley Historic Farmstead.
