As we move into the summer season, there is much to look forward to. From concerts and community celebrations to senior and recreational programs, there are countless ways to stay active, engaged and connected. I encourage you to review the calendar in this publication and take advantage of the many opportunities designed specifically with our senior community in mind. This summer also offers special occasions to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary and the pride we share in our community. I hope you will join us at upcoming events like the America 250 Independence Day Celebration and the Taste of Orland Park, as we gather with neighbors, honor traditions and create new memories together. This time of year offers an opportunity to reflect on the people who have shaped our community and I am especially grateful for the generations of residents who have helped make Orland Park such a special place. The past several months have been filled with opportunities to celebrate our community and engage with one another. I want to thank everyone who attended the State of the Village Address this spring and all those who participated in the many events, discussions and programs throughout the year. These gatherings remind us of the value of staying connected, sharing ideas and building relationships that make Orland Park such a welcoming place to call home. Care Solace Mental Health Care

Understanding the profound impact of untreated mental health issues, the Village of Orland Park has partnered with Care Solace, a social purpose organization, to make access to mental health care and social services easier for residents. This transformative collaboration prioritizes mental and physical well-being and provides streamlined access to a comprehensive network of providers and resources. “It’s important to us to make sure our residents have access to the support they need,” said Mayor Jim Dodge. “We’re proud to partner with Care Solace to help connect people with the right resources as they navigate mental health challenges.” As a central hub of care, Care Solace serves as a liaison between first responders, the justice system, social service agencies and community-based mental health providers. By streamlining communication and coordination, Care Solace connects individuals with appropriate resources and care. Individuals seeking mental health services, as well as those needing assistance with food, housing, or affordable medical and dental care, now have a trusted resource to rely on. With a team of dedicated Care Companions and a network of 700,000 licensed mental health and substance use treatment providers, Care Solace helps to navigate the fragmented mental health care system on behalf of residents, helping them find the perfect resource to suit their needs. Care Solace’s approach is human-centered and supported by technology, helping to reduce the challenges often associated with mental health crises and providing a supportive framework for individuals to regain control of their lives. Available 24/7, Care Companions offer assistance in more than 200 languages, ensuring accessibility for all residents.

COP ON A ROOFTOP On May 15, the Orland Park Police Department participated in the annual Cop on a Rooftop Special Olympics Illinois fundraising event. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Special Olympics Illinois during this year’s event. Because of the community’s generosity, more than $14,000 was raised to support incredible athletes across Illinois.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN Members of the Orland Park Police Department proudly participated in the 2026 Special Olympics Torch Run, carrying the Flame of Hope through our community alongside fellow law enforcement agencies. As part of the run, officers received the torch from the Alsip Police Department and carried it to the Tinley Park Police Department, continuing the relay in support of Special Olympics Illinois. Thank you to everyone who cheered on the runners and supported this incredible cause. Every step helps raise awareness and support for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

K-9 MAVERICK The Orland Park Police Department officially announced the retirement of K-9 Maverick after more than seven years of dedicated service to the community. A 9-year-old Hanoverian Hound, Maverick joined the department in December 2018 and was certified in narcotics detection, missing and endangered person investigations and suspect apprehension. Following successful surgery for a herniated disc in early 2025 and years of distinguished service, Maverick retired from active duty on April 6, 2026. Ownership of Maverick has been transferred to his handler, Officer Joe Zumerling, who will provide him a well-deserved retirement at home with his family. The Village of Orland Park extends its sincere gratitude to K-9 Maverick and Officer Zumerling for their unwavering dedication and wishes Maverick a long, happy and relaxing retirement.

K-9 PETALS At the June 1 Village Board Meeting, OPPD welcomed K-9 Petals to the Village. Serving alongside K-9 Holly,

Petals will serve as a resource for both the community and department personnel. As

demonstrated through the department’s established therapy dog program, therapy dogs play an important role in supporting victims, engaging with community members and helping reduce stress during difficult circumstances. Welcome, Petals!

PIEROGI WITH MAYOR DODGE Community members gathered for an evening of pierogi and meaningful conversation with Mayor Jim Dodge, joined by special guests Jan Król and Krzysztof Zoltek of the Polish Highlanders Alliance of North America and Michał Arciszewski from the Consulate General of Poland. Hosted at Signature Barn Banquet Hall, the event brought residents together to discuss the Polish Constitution, plans for a proposed Polish American Cultural Center and the enduring strength of Orland Park’s vibrant Polish-American community. Thank you to Signature Barn Banquet Hall for graciously hosting this memorable evening.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE BBQ FEST & PARADE The Village celebrated Memorial Day weekend with the inaugural Red, White and Blue BBQ Fest & Parade. Guests enjoyed a festive parade, delicious food from local food vendors, an incredible rib competition, live music, fireworks and plenty of family-friendly fun throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! Those who missed the event can watch the parade and fireworks show on the Village’s YouTube channel.

The OP Alert Emergency Notification System is a high-speed telephone communication service powered by Everbridge that the Village uses to notify residents and businesses of an emergency or urgent situation that requires immediate attention. Residents and businesses are urged to complete the OP Alert notification enrollment and update their contact information. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code and primary phone number. Additional phone numbers, email address and text messaging are optional. All businesses should register, as well as all individuals who have an unlisted phone number, have changed their phone number or address within the last year or use a cellular phone as their primary telephone number. The information you provide is used by the Village of Orland Park for notification purposes only. Your information will be kept confidential and will never be sold or disclosed to others. BAGELS WITH MAYOR DODGE: HONOR FLIGHT CHICAGO Honor Flights

Mayor Jim Dodge and Director of Honor Flight Chicago Doug Meffley recently welcomed local veterans to Bagels with Mayor Dodge, a community conversation focused on topics important to those who have served our nation. The gathering gave veterans an opportunity to connect, share their experiences and learn about programs designed to recognize and support their service, including the work being done by Honor Flight Chicago. Honor Flight Chicago’s mission is to honor, thank and inspire by building awareness and appreciation for the sacrifices made by America’s veterans. Its signature program, the Day of Honor, provides veterans with an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials dedicated to those who served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Beyond these experiences, Honor Flight Chicago engages communities and students through Operation Education, using veterans’ stories to inspire future generations to better understand service and sacrifice. With the support of donors and volunteers, the organization continues to expand its mission to honor veterans of past, present and future conflicts. ORLAND PARK HERITAGE SITES

The Orland Park Heritage Sites inspire a sense of community by offering engaging and educational displays and programs and by collecting and preserving artifacts that document the history of the Orland area and its relationship to local, state and national history. The area known as Orland Park was first settled in the 1830s, and the Village was incorporated in 1892 with Senator John Humphrey serving as its first Village President. The Village Hall display cases are updated seasonally. Our current display, titled “A Day at the Fair,” contains artifacts from both of Chicago’s World Fairs (1893 and 1933) that belonged to residents, as well as a few additional ones collected during their travels. The display will be available from April until the end of June. Our next display, “Orland History 101,” will be available from July until the end of September. VILLAGE HALL DISPLAY CASES

DONATE TODAY! The Village of Orland Park has a large

collection of artifacts pertaining to the history of the area. The archival collection includes letters, documents, maps, blueprints, diaries, books and photographs. The three-dimensional and textile collection consists of historic clothing, uniforms, quilts and household textiles (such as doilies, furniture, china and glassware), sports memorabilia and farming equipment. The Village is always looking for items that are significant to local history. Join the Village of Orland Park and the Tinley Park Historical Society as we present two incredible folk music performances rich with local heritage in conjunction with the 250th Anniversary of the United States. Chris Vallillo is an award-winning folk musician who weaves original, contemporary and traditional songs and narratives into a compelling and entertaining portrait of the history and lifestyles of the Midwest. Vallillo has performed around the country, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library, The Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site.

Pathlights is partnering with Eli Health, an interdisciplinary medical group, to be a provider of a dementia support program called GUIDE (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience). GUIDE helps individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia, and their family caregivers get the support they need to stay safely in their homes. GUIDE provides a dedicated care navigator who helps coordinate your care and connects you with local community resources, like home delivered meals and medical transportation. Your family caregivers get personalized training in caring for someone with dementia and may be eligible for respite services to take a break when they need to. Your care navigator will provide assessments, monthly touchpoints, caregiver coaching, respite navigation and 24/7 clinical support. You are eligible if you have Medicare Parts A and B as your primary source of health insurance. You are not eligible if you are enrolled in Medicare Advantage, Hospice, or the Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly. You also must have Alzheimer’s Disease or other types of dementia. GUIDE doesn’t change your Medicare coverage, including supplemental or Medigap plans. You can see any doctor, provider, or hospital that accepts Medicare. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Two, three or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications.

The focus of this exercise class is to improve mobility of individuals with Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. When you’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, it is very important to stay moving and keep active in order to maintain optimal function. Exercise has been shown to be helpful in maintaining mobility throughout the lifespan. This class provides safe strengthening exercises with an emphasis on postural awareness, breathing, balance and rhythmical movement. These exercises aim to increase joint mobility, range of motion, improve balance recovery, gait mechanics, prevent joint deformation and elevate overall strength and stamina.

The Library Board meets the third Monday of each month. All meetings are open to the public.
